Tyler Perry’s speech at the 2018 National Association of Black Journalists was inspirational, to say the least. One of the main points he speaks on is believing in yourself and in your own person dreams. Tyler Perry was able to accomplish his wildest goals, because he always kept the saying “if not you than who?” in mind. Another point in Perry’s speech that stood out to me, was how long it actually took him to accomplish his goals. Tyler Perry worked for seven years, at times being homeless, until his dreams started to turn into a reality. People tend to overlook the hard work it actually takes to reach personal goals, and Perry added reality to his speech by explaining his journey. The last point Tyler Perry made in his speech that really caught my attention was how much his art gave people hope. He talks of a mother who was going to commit suicide but watched one of his plays and felt like she had hope. Giving people hope, and inspiring others is the greatest legacy one can leave on this world. No matter what your dreams are, if you are passionate about them you have the power to change the way other people look at the world. Tyler Perry has done and continues to do the unimaginable. His 2018 speech at National Association of Black Journalists brings the audience to the realization of how to turn dreams into reality.
